Director of Lë\;tzebuerg C ity Museum to Lead &ldquo\;Luxembourg Culinary Traditions&rdquo\; Cultural Forum Luxembourg Fest Weekend

BELGIUM, WIS CONSIN, June 18, 2024.
The Luxembourg American Cultural Society&rsquo\;s tradition of hosting a Cultural Forum during Luxembourg Fest continues this summer with &ldquo\;Luxembourg Culin ary Traditions&rdquo\; taking place Friday, August 9th&nb sp\;at the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center in Grafton, Wisconsin. This year&rsquo \;s theme centers around the concept of food playing an important role in shaping cultural identities, and is presented by Guy Thewes, the director of Lë\;tzebuerg City Museum and Villa Vauban, an art museum in Luxembo urg City.
Doors open at 9:30 am for t he forum, which features two sessions starting at 10 am: &ldquo\;Kuddelfle ck, Gromperekichelcher a Judd mat Gaardebounen- the Invention of Luxembour g Culinary Traditions,&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;The Eating Habits of Luxembourg ers in the Past.&rdquo\; A question-and-answer session will also take plac e before the forum wraps at noon.

Thewes, who will be flying in from Luxembourg for this e vent, is a published author in the field of urban, social and military his tory. He completed his doctorate at the University of Luxembourg, was appo inted historian by the City of Luxembourg in 1993 and curator at the city& rsquo\;s History Museum before being named director of the Lë\;tzebuer g City Museum and Villa Vauban in 2018.
The Cultural Forum is part of the overall Luxembourg Fest, whic h provides an authentic Luxembourg cultural experience in and around Belgi um, Wisconsin August 9-11, 2024.
Saturday, August 10, the traditional Hammelsmarsch ( sheep march) commences at 11 am with a parade marching west down Belgium&r squo\;s Main Street to festival grounds at Community Park. \; There, g uests will be immersed in Luxembourgish activities including folk dancing, dining on Luxembourg street food, watching or participating in the World& rsquo\;s Largest Treipen-Eating Contest, and sipping the finest in Luxembo urgish beers, wines and ciders as live music plays by band, The Other Side . \; A complimentary Kid&rsquo\;s Zone will once again entertain the c hildren.
Saturday night at 5 pm is &ldquo\;Luxembourg Under the Stars,&rdquo\; an al fresco cu
linary experience that takes place under the tent in the Grand Duke Henri
Square just outside the grounds of the Luxembourg American Cultural Societ
y, where guests are treated to the Luxembourg Tasting Experience and a din
ner curated by Luxembourg restaurant mogul, Tom Hickey and the Lowlands Gr
oup, paired with Luxembourg beer, wine and hard ciders imported by Port Wa
shington&rsquo\;s Ansay International.
Sunday is the Luxembourg Fest Mass, which begins on Fest grounds at 10 a m. \; Followed by Mass will be the Luxembourg Fest pageantry, where Ka ren and Joe Jasper will be crowned the Duke and Duchess of Fest and the Ja coby family will be honored. \; Lunch is available for purchase after the pageantry. \; Magician and comedian Glen Gerard provides entertain ment starting at 11:30 am.
Fr om Thursday through Sunday, August 8-11, the LACS Museum, Gift Sh op and Research Center will be open with waived admission fees from 10 am until 3 pm. \; Luxembourg&rsquo\;s Marc Klein will provide complimenta ry genealogy assistance in the research center on Saturday, August 10th&nb sp\;on a first-come, first-served basis.
