On Friday 3 December 2021, Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, visited Ampacet Europe which announced on this occasion that it is doubling its colour production lines at its Dudelange site.

Ampacet has invested more than €40 million in a new facility in Dudelange that currently houses the American group's European headquarters. This investment is set to double the company's colour production capacity and lead to the creation of 25 additional jobs.

Since arriving in the Grand Duchy in 1995, first in Windhof and then in Dudelange, Ampacet has continued to expand its activities there. The company invested more than €40 million in Luxembourg through the establishment, on two occasions, of new production lines in Dudelange and the installation of its European distribution centre within the Eurohub Sud logistics park in Bettembourg / Dudelange.

Based in New York, the Ampacet group is a world leader in the production of masterbatches, granules conferring specific characteristics to plastic products (such as colour or specific properties such as flame resistance, for example). The group employs more than 2,200 people at 26 production sites in nineteen countries, including 526 in Europe and 211 in Dudelange.

Aware of climate issues and the need to minimise plastic pollution, the company is engaged in several sustainable initiatives related to the circular economy and waste reduction through innovation and the development of solutions meeting the need to increase recyclability and the use of second life plastics. In addition, with the outbreak of the pandemic, Ampacet saw demand for some of its products, used in the medical and pharmaceutical sector, grow sharply. After a presentation the sustainable initiatives taken by the group and its prospects for future development in the medical and pharmaceutical market, Minister Fayot visited the factory and the R&D laboratory.

During the visit, Minister Fayot stated: “The development of Ampacet's activities over the years in Luxembourg is exemplary and reflects our policy of diversifying the national economy: the activities production, innovation and research followed the establishment of the European headquarters 20 years ago. In 2015, the establishment in Luxembourg of the European distribution centre followed, and today the addition of new color production lines. As Minister of the Economy, I am proud that a company with the know-how and international reputation of Ampacet has chosen Luxembourg and the Dudelange site on several occasions for its expansion. I see this decision as a clear sign of Luxembourg's attractiveness as an industrial site”.

Marcello Bergamo, Managing Director of Ampacet Europe, added: “We continue to invest in Luxembourg thanks to the mutual trust established over time with the Luxembourg authorities. Luxembourg supports our growing presence in Europe and in nearby emerging economies such as Russia and the Middle East. Geographically, we are well positioned, with both a production site and a distribution centre strategically located to serve our European customers. We appreciate the support we have received from the Ministry of the Economy and are confident that our mutually beneficial relationship will continue for many years to come".
