The Luxembourg American Chamber of Commerce is pleased to partner with the French-American Chamber of Commerce in New York in order to provide our LACC member companies with access to J-1 Visas and the Exchange Visitor Program. The French-American Chamber of Commerce in New York is a U.S. Department of State accredited sponsor of the Exchange Visitor Program, facilitated by the J-1 visa. The FACC has generously extended their services to LACC member companies.

The J-1 program is a non-immigrant visa, participants are expected to return to their home country at the end of their mission. All participants must be on a full-time schedule, supervised, and paid at least the local minimum wage. Here is some info from the FACC for participants on the J-1 visa.

 

What type of employees could utilize this program?

  • Interns:  Post-secondary students OR graduate students. Maximum duration of 12 months.

  • Trainees:  Graduates with 52 weeks of relevant work experience, OR five years of relevant experience with no diploma. Maximum duration of 18 months.

 Who can host?

  • Companies that have at least 1 U.S. full-time employee are eligible to host.

  • Companies without a U.S. presence can host through a local business partner (on a case by case basis, subject to review).
