"Just days before the end of the MiCA transitional period, Coinbase officially opened its Luxembourg offices in Place de l'Étoile on Wednesday evening, in the presence of Finance Minister Gilles Roth. Beyond the symbolic ceremony, the American crypto giant sought to demonstrate the substance of its European platform: a CASP licence, a physical presence, and a commitment to regulatory compliance.

Coinbase could easily have staged a characteristically American-style spectacle. Instead, Wednesday evening's official opening of its offices--located in the same building as DLA Piper at Place de l'Étoile--felt more like American-style hospitality than American-style showmanship. A few drinks, plenty of suits, the occasional use of the word "awesome", and a carefully crafted message: at a time when the remaining crypto operators across Europe are still racing to secure a MiCA licence before the early July deadline, the European arm of the US group wanted to demonstrate that it has genuine substance in Luxembourg. That means real offices, a tangible local presence, and around thirty employees, even if many work remotely most of the time...."
