"Thousands of people celebrated with the new grand ducal couple at the weekend - a celebration that was unique in its form. The celebrations combined tradition and glamour with modern aspects and impressive show performances, as Luxembourg’s citizens and artists took centre stage.
The new head of state emphasised the key values that are important to him for Luxembourg: open-mindedness, diversity, tolerance and solidarity as well as the combination of tradition and modernity.
The celebrations formed a stark contrast to the national day on 23 June, which also marked the 25th anniversary of Grand Duke Henri’s accession to the throne.
