Description

EU-US and Bilateral Relations in Times of COVID-19

A live Webinar with Ambassador Gaston Stronck

Ambassador Gaston Stronck will explore how the covid crisis has been tackled in Luxembourg, where the government now has a strategy of testing the entire population, and the reopening of the economy is underway in a gradual and careful process. He will speak to the impact of the covid pandemic on bilateral relations between Luxembourg and the United States, as well as the wider impact on EU-US relations.

Transatlantic relations had been strained before the pandemic broke out, and have been further impacted as the virus pushed the US towards reinforced “America First”, as well as a more aggressive stance vis-à-vis multilateral institutions. Leaders on both sides of the Atlantic are more inward-looking and preoccupied with managing the public health and economic consequences of the pandemic in their countries, and trade relations are suffering from the economic fall-out of covid.
