Managing Group Director – Senior Vice President, Digital Asset Banking

Joseph Seibert currently holds the position of Managing Group Director & Senior Vice President of Digital Asset Banking @ Signature Bank (SBNY). “Digital Asset Banking” encompasses all aspects of Private Client business banking related to FIAT settlement for crypto currency & blockchain technology firms trading digital assets all around the world.

With over 15+ years in Private Commercial Banking experience (Bank of America, Valley National Bank) & 6+ years in Digital Asset Banking experience, Joseph began his commercial banking career in 2003 and pivoted to the Digital Asset banking space in 2014. This move commenced by working for a small NYC based bank where he managed the relationship of a well known (domestic) crypto currency exchange. He quickly learned the digital asset industry needed a path to successfully merge its’ clientele with the commercial banking industry, one vertical at a time.  Joseph’s vision along with his team quickly outgrew the smaller NYC bank leading him to search for a larger, crypto friendly US Bank with a balance sheet to support growth for the rapidly expanding digital asset eco system.

Enter Signature Bank.

In January 2018, Signature Bank decided to venture into this dynamic space and hired Joseph Seibert and his team of 11 to begin building an institutional digital asset eco system backed by Signature Bank’s $50+ billion asset, strong capital ratio balance sheet. To date, Joseph & his team have successfully onboarded over 600 + institutional clients, case by case, operating all around the globe.

From OTC desks to crypto currency exchanges to crypto mining operations, Joseph & his team manage all of the day to day banking needs with regards to client onboarding, account approvals, 24x7 client servicing and ongoing risk mitigation controls for Signature Bank.

In November 2018, Signature Bank successfully launched “Signet” (www.signet.com) a proprietary blockchain based payments platform utilized to settle USD  24x7x365 for all approved Signature Bank clientele.
