Is Alternative Data the “New Oil”?

Rob Martinez is the Chief Revenue Officer for BattleFin. Based in New York, Robert A. Martinez is an experienced business development and sales expert with 20-plus years experience working with leading financial, corporate and government institutions that include hedge funds, portfolio managers, quantitatively-focused investors, and leading publication and media firms to maximize the value they derive from Alternative Data, Financial Technology, Analytics, Research and other products including Cyber Security. Prior to joining BattleFin, Robert co-founded DAR Partners and served as one of the managing members. Early in his career, he served in sales and managerial roles at Revere Data, Institutional Research Services and Sage Instruments. Robert also has an extensive network of colleagues within the financial and commercial communities as well as the public sector. Robert’s forte is to quickly identify the needs of a client and find the technology or methodology solutions to fulfill the requirement. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and proudly served as an Aviation Officer in the US Army.  

Seth Rao is the founder and CTO of SecReliant, LLC, a cybersecurity firm which specializes in Risk Assessments, Managed Detection and Response, and Virtual Chief Information Services Officer services.  For over 25 years he has designed and managed comprehensive security engagements for selective and discriminating clients.  He has successfully engaged in projects for the United Nations, Ultra-High Net Worth Individuals, Big Data Providers, Film and TV, Manufacturing, Medical, Government Agencies, Financial, Real Estate, and non-profit organizations.

Seth also oversees cutting edge/bleeding edge projects for Unmanned Vehicle Systems and the energy industry.  He is an FAA licensed drone pilot, a member of the International Association for Cryptologic Research, and the American Society for Testing and Materials.  In his spare time, he researches innovation in technology for security issues and enjoys dispelling myths about the cybersecurity industry.
